Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised the team’s performance in recent games. Because it is not an easy job to face a strong team like West Ham.

Arteta the Gunners won 2-0 at 10th-placed West Ham in the Premier League on Wednesday, taking the Gunners up to fourth with 29 points from 17 games.

“Really satisfied with the performance, the quality, the energy, the passion and the fans,” the Spaniard told BT Sport.

“We had some really good moments. It’s a tough team to fight against. They have different methods and threats in many ways. I think we have controlled them very well which is credit to the boys.

“It was a great first goal. That’s what Gabriel (Martinelli) can do, he always threatens opponents and that speed is good for him to take advantage. The second goal came from a good counter-attack. It was a pity to miss the penalty in that moment because it probably gave us more time to relax. Because you can’t resist this team. They can score goals at any moment.

“It’s a big game for us so obviously we have the potential to overtake and go up to fourth, it’s telling. We have a strong performance in the nest so we have to perform well against good teams. And I think we did that.”
